‘Asif’ festival ‘Kelim choreography center’
Choreography: Kai Rotschild
Performed by: Lee Ben Aharon, Kai Rotschild
In this dance piece that was firstly created at the Kelim Choreography Center in Israel, two dancers undergo a transformative journey. They perform a ceremonial burial for a white butterfly, experiencing stages of grief, acceptance, reincarnation, and celebration. Through absurd connections and humor, they combine different worlds while conveying deeper messages. Pushing physical and mental limits, they explore the body’s relationship with nature and the environment. Collaboratively, they construct and deconstruct structures with their bodies inspired by new life and decomposing of the forest. Movement explores all phenomena, bridging reality and fantasy. The choreography weaves rituals and temples, commemorating the butterfly as a symbol of self-burial. This piece deepens into the transient nature of existence through the body, inviting contemplation of the body’s temporary existence.
